The Hanson House Bed and Breakfast, originally constructed in 1890 as the residence of lumber magnate Rasmus Hanson and his family, stands as a resilient piece of history in Grayling, Michigan. It has been thoughtfully preserved and enhanced to provide a captivating experience for future guests. This Victorian treasure offers opulent bedrooms with a historical touch, a grand dining room reminiscent of dignitaries' gatherings, cozy reading corners, and the warmth of a fireplace. Amidst lush gardens and a well-kept lawn, the Hanson House invites visitors to immerse themselves in its storied past while creating their own memories.
The Manistee Room

This boutique king bed suite is named after the same river Rasmus Hanson trekked looking for timberlands. This room features a luxurious layout as the only accommodation on main floor of the Hanson House. The attached private bathroom has a large, full bathroom with ample vanity space and a walk-in shower. Guests can enjoy views of the property from the large windows in this suite.

The Hanson Suite

Cozy up to the original, hand carved oak fireplace and relax in this boutique room fit for a… well, lumber baron. This king bed suite originally belonged to Rasmus Hanson himself. Positioned on the second level of this gorgeous home, you will find the Hanson Suite’s tall ceilings, decorative natural woodwork, private ceramic tiled bathroom with walk-in shower, comfortable seating arrangement and luxurious views.

The AuSable Room

A guest favorite for the incredible bright, natural light. Located on the second level of the Hanson House, you will enjoy fantastic views of the grounds and surrounding historical homes from the AuSable Room. This spacious king bed suite has a connected en-suite bathroom and original fireplace.

The Lake Margrethe Room

Property and Cancelation Policies:
In the instance your plans change, please keep in mind our cancellation policy.
- Reservations are fully refundable 48 hours prior to check-in.
- Reservations cancelled 24-48 hours prior to check-in will be credited toward a future stay at equal or lesser value.
- Cancellations within 24-hours of check-in will not be refunded or credited and will be charged in full.
- If the guest arrives and decides to leave early, the nights not spent 24 hours after the cancellation occurs are 50% refunded.
- In case of a no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged and is non-refundable.
- Cancellations must be acknowledged via email stating the reservation number and will be confirmed upon receipt.
We appreciate you understanding that we are a small, boutique hotel with very limited availability, and therefore are rarely able to make exceptions to our policy.
